2.4	g	Lab-Lemco beef extract (Oxoid)	
10	g	Proteose peptone no. 3 (BD-Difco)	
5	g	Yeast extract (BD-Difco)	
4	g	Na2HPO4	
1.5	g	Glucose	
0.5	g	Starch (soluble)	
0.2	g	L-Cystine	
15	g	Agar	
0.5	g	L-Cysteine HCl x H2O	
50	ml	Horse blood	
950	ml	Distilled water	

1. Add L-cystine to 50 ml of 1 N HCl and mix thoroughly. Add the remaining components and bring volume to 950 ml. Adjust pH to 7.6-7.8. After autoclaving and then cooling to 50C, aseptically add 50.0 ml of horse blood. Mix thoroughly and pour into sterile petri dishes or distribute into sterile tubes.
